Mr. Smith teaches two different classes, Communication Processes and Manufacturing Processes.
Grades 9, 10, 11.
A specialized Graphic Arts course that explores the technological processes used to produce and deliver graphic and electronic media. This course provides an overview of communication technology, entailing the way it has evolved and how messages are designed and produced. Students will use various computer software programs, screen printing, embroidery and offset lithography to design their projects. Projects include: Christmas cards, signs, stationary, notepads, business cards, printed t-shirts, envelopes, towels and mirrors. Labs will include layouts, electronic prepress, stripping and imposition, darkroom, presswork and bindery. Lab fee: $2 per semester plus cost of some project materials.
One year course.
Grades 10, 11, 12
A specialized Graphic Arts production course that explores the technological processes used to obtain resources and change them into materials and finished products. This course will sharpen the production skills of the advanced student. Computer design, electronic prepress, stripping and imposition, darkroom, presswork, digital printing, bindery, screen printing, sign making and embroidery.
